President Lazarus Chakwera joined the Maseko Ngoni at this year’s Umhlangano Wa Maseko ceremony at Nkolimbo Village in Ntcheu District.

LILONGWE – President Lazarus Chakwera joined the Maseko Ngoni at this year’s Umhlangano Wa Maseko ceremony at Nkolimbo Village in Ntcheu District.

The ceremony, coinciding with the 10th commemoration of Ngwenyama Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V on the throne, was held under theme ‘Strength in Unity’.

President Chakwera also paid homage at the burial site of Inkosi Gomani Chikuse 1, who set the foundation of the Maseko Ngoni’s contribution to the Malawi’s struggle for self-rule from the late 19th Century into the 20th Century.

To date, the Maseko Ngonis continue to play a huge role in nation building through their impact on Education, Health, Agriculture, Tourism, Mining and all key sectors of the economy.

Chakwera pleaded with all Malawians from all cultural groupings to continue living in harmony and shared prosperity.
