MARONDERA – Journalists from the private media have been banned from covering an event where First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa opened a clinic at Marondera Open Prison for Women.

The clinic was built under the First Lady’s Angel of Hope Foundation with funding from TelOne.

A Zimbabwe Prisons and Corrections Services (ZPCS) official said only state media and officials from the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services were allowed to cover the event.

Auxillia’s acting media liaison officer, John Manzongo, threatened to have the private media reporters arrested.

Zimbabwe Online Content Creators chairman, Toneo Rutsito said the Office of the First Lady’s constant harassment and intimidation of content creators is unconstitutional and must therefore stop.
