School dropout Chipo The Trouble Causer puts smile on depressed nation

HARARE – Chipo The Trouble Causer, real name, Donna Chasaya has over the past months become a popular Zimbabwe comedy character on social platforms TikTok and Facebook through short dramatic skits but her personal story is not all rosy.

The 30-year-old Donna Chasaya, a mother of two, who burst into spotlight three years ago while starring for Naiza Boom Comedy as an evil girl named Chipo opened up on her painful upbringing.

Chipo The Trouble Causer who did her primary education at Tsungubvi Primary School said she did not proceed with school beyond Form 2 due to family problems.

“I did my Form 1 and Form 2 education at Rujeko High School then I stopped there and could not proceed with my studies due to family issues. My parents divorced when I was young and started to live with my father initially,” said Chipo The Trouble Causer.

“The moment came when I was supposed to go back and live with my mother, but when we got there the situation was tough for her. The economic distress faced by my mother meant that I couldn’t proceed with school though I wanted to attain education,” she narrated.

Chipo The Trouble Causer said after dropping out of school, she relocated from Goromonzi to Mabvuku working as a housemaid after her mother resolved that she looks for work to support the family.

Chasaya said she started comedy on TikTok as an accident after discovering that the platform is not as complex as initially thought.

The talented comedienne who grew up in Glendale, Zimbabwe said her content is mainly influenced by daily realities in society and is meant to entertain as well as educate followers on real issues.

Chipo The Trouble Causer who is inspired by American socialite Kim Kardashian opened up on how she joined Naiza Boom Comedy after being urged on by her husband.

“My husband is actually the one who recommended me to the Naiza Boom family after being amazed by my acting antics at home. We then approached Naiza Boom Comedy and they recruited me to be part of them,” she said.
