PRETORIA – Sekhukhune United defeated SuperSport United 1-0 to move into second position on log standings in the South African DStv Premier League.
Tshediso Patjie got the all important goal for Sekhukhune in the 87th minute to secure three points for them.
The match was full of drama from the onset as Sekhukhune player Vusimzi Mncube saw red in the 7th minute before Thalente Mbatha for Mantsanstantsa followed seven minutes later.
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Willard Katsande and Zimbabwe international Talent Chawapihwa both started the match for the new boys.
Katsande even came close to getting a goal in the first half but his effort from a close range was saved by Ronwen Williams.
Blessing Sarupinda was an unused substitute for Sekhukhune United while Onisimor Bhasera kept his position on the left back position for SuperSport.
Kuda Mahachi and George Chigova were not on the match day list for SuperSport.
Washington Arubi and Farai Madhanhanga’s Marumo Gallants were knocked out of the CAF Confederations Cup after a 1-0 aggregate loss to TP Mazembe.
Mazembe won the first leg 1-0 and managed to hold on to a goalless draw in South Africa to progress into the knockout stages of the competition.
