The European Union (EU) has announced a significant financial contribution of €113 million (approximately US$120 million) to support the rehabilitation of the Kariba Dam in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) reports that it fell short of its 2,490GWh fourth quarter output target for 2022 by 30,96% to 1,719GWh, and that its annual energy output fell 7,29% short of the target.
Zimbabwe will not experience frequent power outages at least for the time being after power company, ZESA Holdings reportedly secured imports and increased its generating capacity.
In a statement yesterday, Zesa said the Zambezi River Authority was resuming the rehabilitation works and the authority had asked the two power stations (Kariba North and Kariba South) to reduce output by taking some of their generation units out of service each day.
