GABORONE – Former Harare City coach Taurai Mangwiro was on Wednesday night unveiled as the new coach of Botswana Premier League side Orapa United on a two year contract.
Mangwiro’s handlers TKT Sports Agency said the coach who has superintendent many clubs locally emerged as the favoured candidate for Orapa United because of his experience.
“Tawurayi Mangwiro is one of the most experienced local coaches and he fitted the bill that Orapa United wants. They are a side gunning for the championship and Mangwiro’s experience is going to come in handy. Also the Botswana League is growing in stature and becoming attractive to Zimbabwean coaches and players,” said Trust Nyambiya of TKT Sports Agency.
Mangwiro a former Warriors assistant, joins fellow Zimbabwean coaches Rahman Gumbo, Philane ‘Beefy’ Ncube and Mandla ‘Lulu’ Mpofu in the Botswana Premier League.
Gumbo is at Sua Flamingoes, Ncube at Nico United while Mpofu is at Masitaoka.
A host of Zimbabwean players are also plying their trade in Botswana. Orapa United are fourth on the log standings after three matches.
