PARIS, France – French football club Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) has announced the loan of Zimbabwean striker Tino Kadewere to fellow Ligue 1 team FC Nantes until the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.
The loan deal, effective immediately, includes a purchase option, allowing Lyon to acquire a 25% interest if Kadewere is transferred to another club in the future.
In a statement, Olympique Lyonnais conveyed their well-wishes to the 26-year-old forward for a successful second half of the season.
Kadewere, who joined Lyon in July 2020 from Le Havre, has had a significant presence on the field, playing 64 matches and scoring 11 goals for the club.
His loan stint last season at Mallorca aimed to further develop his skills.
The statement also emphasized that Kadewere remains under contract with Lyon until June 30, 2025, indicating the club’s continued investment in the player’s long-term potential.

Tino Kadewere transfer delight
Nantes, on their official website, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stating:
“FC Nantes and Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement for the loan – with an option to purchase – of Tino Kadewere (27 years old), until the end of the 2023-2024 season.”
Kadewere, sharing his enthusiasm after signing the loan deal, stated:
“I am proud and really happy to be here, in Nantes. It’s a new year, a new challenge, and we are going to attack with great ambitions. The idea is to give everything to help the team. I would like to thank the Club for the trust placed in it. I know the Stade de La Beaujoire well, a place that I really like. There is a superb atmosphere, and I am impatient to play in front of the Nantes supporters.”
With Nantes, Kadewere will don the jersey number 15 as he embarks on a fresh chapter in his career.
Despite facing challenges, including injuries that impacted his performance at Lyon and Mallorca, the Zimbabwean forward is optimistic about contributing positively to Nantes and rediscovering his best form on the pitch.
