Tynwald school bus was speeding; police release names of the deceased

Nyanga Police say the bus crash that killed six Tynwald High School students was caused by speeding.

MUTARE (ZBC News) – Nyanga Police say the bus crash that killed six Tynwald High School students was caused by speeding.

The circumstances of the accident are that when reaching the 75 kilometer arrow along the Rusape Nyanga road near the pine hotel, the driver was unable to take a turn.

The bus veered off the road to the left and rolled several times down a steep incline before landing on its roof.

34 students were injured, some thrown from the bus, five died instantly.

The injured were taken to Nyanga District Hospital, where a student died on arrival

The police also released the names of the deceased students:

  1. Anesuishe Hove, female, (14) at 49 Lorraine Drive, Bluffhill, Harare.
  2. Beyonce Guyo, Female, (15) Block 42 Manna Flats, Madokero, Harare
  3. Anita Manyuka, Female (16) at number 4358, Matidoda Park, Tynwald, Harare
  4. Destiny Dziva, Female, (14) House number 56 Sussex Road, Avondale, Harare
  5. Kimberly Tarisai Mutusva, Female (15) at No. 217 Chitepo Heights, Harare
  6. Craig Madanhire, male

A complaint was lodged with the Nyanga traffic police, who attended the scene and informed the students’ relatives.
