VP Chiwenga ties the knot amidst social media scandal

Zimbabwe Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his new wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, celebrated their wedding at St Gerard’s Catholic Church in Borrowdale, Harare, this Saturday.

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his new wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, celebrated their wedding at St Gerard’s Catholic Church in Borrowdale, Harare, this Saturday.

The event was attended by numerous guests, marking the union of the Vice President and his long-time love interest, Colonel Baloyi.

However, the joyous occasion faced social media drama as Chiwenga’s ex-wife, Marry Mubaiwa, took to online platforms to cast doubt on the sincerity of the Vice President’s feelings for his new bride.

The ex-couple’s marriage was annulled by a court last year following Mubaiwa’s arrest for the attempted murder of the feared former Army General.

In a post on social media platform X, Mubaiwa questioned Chiwenga’s motives and alleged mistreatment, stating, “He is ‘shooting himself in the foot’ if he knows what that means… I am almost certain that he has no love at all for that ‘woman’ that follows him around.”

Attempting to tarnish the celebrations, Mubaiwa further accused Chiwenga of denying her access to their three children and retaining her personal belongings, including undergarments.

The social media posts by Mubaiwa aimed to disrupt attention from the wedding festivities, shedding light on the contentious relationship between the former spouses.

Prior to the ceremony, invitations were extended to numerous guests who attended the nuptials at St Gerard’s Catholic Church.

The wedding was expected to be followed by an elaborate celebration, showcasing the union of the Vice President and Colonel Baloyi.

Chiwenga’s personal life has been subject to public scrutiny, and this marks his third marriage in just over 20 years.

He divorced Jocelyn Mauchaza and subsequently married Marry Mubaiwa in 2003.

The recent social media exchange adds another layer of intrigue to the Vice President’s personal affairs.

Despite the online drama, the wedding ceremony proceeded as planned, solidifying the union of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi.
