HARARE — Against tactical odds and technical wisdom, Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic has bit the bullet to let Alec Mudimu play at the heart of defence, The Page can reveal.
Mudimu will partner Onesimor Bhasera to allow Devine Lunga and Takudzwa Chimwemwe to rent the full backs role – not too sure if they will be allowed to improvise into wingbacks to good effect.
The risk of going with Mudimu has been weighed against losing the grit, power, control and industrial energy of Marshall Munetsi into central midfield.
It has been decided Munetsi can give enough security playing in front of the defence in a dual assignment with Thabani Kamusoko.
From there the team effectively selected itself with Khama Billiat and Kuda Mahachi – merchants of speed and manipulation, creating opportunities for the attackers captain Knowledge Musona and Tino Kadewere.
This was the team that was producing goods in training, although on form and poise Terrence Dzukamanja was undroppable.
Sad we can only field 11 players at a time. Warriors can beat South Africa at 1500hrs at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.
