HARARE — Zimbabwe mourns the passing of Karikoga Kaseke, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), who died on Thursday at the age of 62.

His wife confirmed his passing at a hospital in Harare, where he had been undergoing treatment.

Kaseke, who served as the head of the ZTA from 2005 to 2018, had been battling illness since suffering a stroke, which ultimately led to his retirement on health grounds.

A veteran of Zimbabwe’s liberation war and a former army officer, Kaseke also held the position of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Communications under former President Robert Mugabe’s administration.

Throughout his tenure at the ZTA, Kaseke played a pivotal role in promoting Zimbabwe as a premier tourist destination, leveraging his expertise and strategic vision to enhance the country’s tourism sector.
