HARARE – Zimbabwean music sensation Takura Chiwoniso, popularly known as Blot, has been arrested by authorities for drug abuse.
The talented Zimdancehall star was caught taking crystal meth drug, commonly referred to as mutoriro, while parked in a Toyota Corolla vehicle on Wednesday.
Law enforcement officers also seized a plastic bag containing a quantity of the illicit substance.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, confirmed Blot’s arrest and encouraged community members to continue exposing drug dealers and individuals affected by the scourge of illegal drugs.
He stated, “Police arrested an illicit drug abuse suspect in Sunningdale. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.”

Blot, known for his chart-topping tracks such as “Rufu,” “Havasati Vandiona,” “Humbangu,” and “Skelewu,” has previously collaborated with fellow Zimdancehall artists including Bounty Lisa and Ndunge Yut.
However, his musical career and reputation have suffered due to his involvement in drug abuse, which has become a pervasive issue among Zimbabwean youth.
Crystal meth, a synthetic stimulant, induces feelings of euphoria but also presents severe risks.
Its consumption can lead to paranoia, hallucinations, insomnia, psychosis, aggression, and addiction.
Furthermore, the drug has detrimental effects on the brain, heart, lungs, and other vital organs.
The arrest of Blot highlights the ongoing battle against drug abuse in Zimbabwe and serves as a reminder of the harmful consequences associated with such illicit activities.
The local music industry, as well as society at large, must continue efforts to address this pressing issue and provide support for those affected by substance abuse.
