Mapeza to make changes at Warriors

Warriors coach Norman Mapeza is set to ring some changes for the remaining two World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia and give a run to some fringe and upcoming players.

HARARE – Warriors coach Norman Mapeza is set to ring some changes for the remaining two World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia and give a run to some fringe and upcoming players.

Mapeza is set to name his provisional squad for the clash against Bafana Bafana on 11 November and against Ethiopia three days later but sources said the letters of request send out to the clubs indicate some players have been overlooked.

Goalkeepers Talbert Shumba seems to have paid for the blunder against Ghana at the National Sports stadium while Washington Arubi is also being overlooked after not convincing Mapeza in Ghana.

FC Platinum goalkeeper Petros Mhari is set to be called with Chicken Inn goalkeeper Donovan Bernard coming in to give competition along with Spain based Martin Mapisa.

Plymouth Argyle’s Brendan Galloway seems to not have done much to convince Mapeza to overlook Devine Lunga for him and is set to be omitted.

FC Platinum midfielder Kelvin Madzongwe is set to retain his place in the team after impressing against Ghana.

Mapeza will however miss defender Alec Mudimu through suspension, captain Knowledge Musona with a hamstring injury while Marshall Munetsi and Teenage Hadebe are also doubtful after picking up injuries at their clubs.

Tendayi Darikwa is uncertain as he is contemplating quitting the Warriors in protest over the poor funding  and support for the national team.
