HARARE – CAPS United finally remembered how to win after registering a 2-1 victory against Harare City in an entertaining match played at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.

William Manondo scored a brace against his former side to end a seven game winless streak for the struggling Green Machine while Zorodzai Semure scored the consolation for City.

The match started with CAPS United on top of the game and could have scored as early as the 5th minute but Joseph Tulani was not up to the task.

CAPS United finally found the breakthrough in the 17th minute after some fine work by Tulani whose delivery was perfectly connected for a goal by Manondo.

Harare City almost grabbed the equalizer seven minutes later but goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaunga was well alert to deal with a Stanley Masukuta shot.

CAPS United were forced to make an injury inspired substitution in the 27th minute as Ian Nyoni made way for Tichaona Zota who almost found the back of the net immediately after a fine work by Tulani.

Second half resumed with Harare City on the receiving end as they failed to deal with the intensity of a determined Makepekepe.

United launched a series of attacks which forced the Sunshine Boys defender Hastings Chapusha to handle in the box.

Manondo stepped up to complete his brace and scored his 11th goal of the season, surpassing Chicken Inn striker Brian Muza who has scored 10 goals.

Harare City regrouped and started to dictate pace in the game which resulted in a goal thanks to Semure.

In the end, CAPS United held on to collect three points and ease pressure on coach Lloyd Chitembwe.
