MHONDORO – Lethal Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 striker Takunda Benhura continued from where he left from before the Christmas Break getting his sixth goal in three outings in a 1-1 draw against Chegutu Pirates in a Northern Region Soccer League match at Baobab stadium Saturday afternoon.
Benhura who scored the first and only hat trick in the league so far against Simba Bhora before notching a brace past Beta XI, was quick out of the blocks putting Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 in the lead just after four minutes.
The Chegutu born player slotted home connecting a pass from Tendai Matindife before Isaac Benalo equalised for Chegutu Pirates with just a minute before fulltime finishing off a rebound from a Simba Domingo free kick.
Karoi United needed a late strike from Tapiwa Tasiyana to force a 1-1 draw against PAM FC at Chikangwe stadium.
Lloyd Chingodzi thought he had given PAM FC their first win of the season but a late equaliser from Tasiyana condemned them to their fourth consecutive draw of the season, just one ahead of Commando Bullets.
CUMA Academy triumphed in the Kadoma derby getting the better of new entrants CAM & Motor 1-0 at Rimuka stadium.
CAM & Motor replaced Beta XI who pulled out because of a company management decision. They saw themselves chasing the game early in the ninth minute from an Eddie Wayunji strike.
Wayunji’s strike was enough to give Gipter Raiva coached side their second win of the season.
Action continues Sunday, with Simba Bhora hosting Black Mambas in the pick of weekend fixtures at Wadzanai stadium.
Commando Bullets are at home against Golden Valley at Commando Barracks.
Bullets will be hoping to get their first win of the season against Leo Kurauzvione’s side.
