HARARE – In a tragic incident, the mother of the Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr. Tamer Almassri, lost her life on Tuesday in Khan Younis city in the Gaza strip due to an attack by Israeli forces.
The embassy confirmed the devastating news, revealing that the assault occurred during the Israeli army’s bombardment of the residential area.
The media and public relations officer of the Palestine embassy in Zimbabwe, Munyaradzi Munaro, expressed deep sorrow and grief.
“May Allah, the almighty, give her mercy and accept her in the highest levels of paradise and bestow on her family solace, patience, and comfort for their loss. To Allah we belong, unto him we return, may her soul rest in peace.”

The ambassador’s mother had been in Zimbabwe as a diplomatic member of the ambassador’s family for nine months until May this year.
The tragic incident adds to the toll of the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, which erupted in October.
Hamas initiated the conflict by raiding parts of Israel, resulting in casualties and kidnappings.
In response, Israel launched a massive aerial and ground assault on Gaza, causing significant loss of life and destruction of homes and infrastructure.
The conflict has been marked by devastating consequences, with thousands of Palestinians displaced and a considerable number of casualties reported.
The latest incident underscores the urgency of addressing the ongoing hostilities in the region and finding a sustainable resolution to the protracted conflict.
