HARARE – Pan African ICT company Axis Solutions has pledged to plough more resources into grassroots development in Zimbabwe after unveiling a sponsorship deal with the Northern Region Soccer League on Wednesday.

Axis Solutions poured in a US$20 000 sponsorship package for the Northern Region Soccer League Super 8 Cup to be known as the Axis Super 8 Cup and has promised to invest more in local football.

Axis Solutions chief executive Brian Mukudzavhu said the partnership with the Northern Region Soccer League is just a starting point as they want to put their footprints in Zimbabwean football.

“For us we believe in development and we also believe in seeding. What we realised is that is instead of going for the Premier Soccer League, why don’t we go and start to plant. So this is a way we are planting,” Mukudzavhu said.

“Our dream is that come 2026, Zimbabwe will be qualifying at the 2026 World Cup using players groomed from these lower leagues and grassroots.

“We are looking at going beyond this Super 8 and also incorporate other regions in future. Northern Region Soccer League was just the starting but we have bigger plans like even going to the rural areas to develop talent.”

The Axis Solutions sponsorship will also carry individual awards with the player of the tournament getting US$500, top goal scorer receiving US$300, goalkeeper of the tournament US$300 and the coach of tournament getting US$400.

Axis Solutions is also going to do digital medical tests for all the clubs in the Northern Region Soccer League ahead of the start of the tournament as well as providing technology assistance to the region.
