GABORONE – Philani ‘Beefy’ Ncube has been suspended for two weeks by his Botswana Premier League (BPL) side Nico United for unspecified reasons even though the club has been struggling for results.
Nico United have managed only one win in the last 10 games, drawing five times and losing four times with the latest being the 2-1 defeat to Mandla ‘Lulu’ Mpofu’s Masitaoka at the weekend.
Nico United did not specify the reasons for the suspension but announced the interim technical staff to take care of the team during Ncube’s suspension.
“Nico Management wishes to inform its members, supporters, well wishers and the public that it has taken a resolution to suspend Head Coach Mr Philani Ncube from his duties for 14 days with immediate effect,” read part of the statement.
“In the Interim Monametsi “Sunday” Kelebale will lead the team, assisted by Mpho “AK” Akanyang while Peter “Tekere” Muchina will assume the role of Technical Advisor.”
This is Ncube‘s first job outside Zimbabwe having coached a lot of local clubs that includes Bulawayo City, How Mine and Harare City.
