Benni McCarthy set for Manchester United coaching role

Bafana Bafana great Benni McCarthy has reportedly joined Manchester United's coaching staff according to reports from England.

MANCHESTER – Bafana Bafana great Benni McCarthy has reportedly joined Manchester United’s coaching staff according to reports from England.

McCarthy is set to join the Red Devils as a coach specialising with strikers and will be on the dugout for the 2022/23 season.

English newspapers Athletic and The Mirror reported Saturday that McCarthy who is South Africa’s all-time top scorer will join Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff.

The former Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United striker will be part of Ten Hag’s back room staff for the upcoming season that also includes Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren.

McCarthy has been jobless since receiving the sack at AmaZulu where he guided the team to a runners-up finish in the 2020/2021 season and guided the team to the CAF Champions League group stage.
