The opposition UPND teamed up with NDC to boycott the voting process leaving the ruling PF with less than enough arsenal to reach the required 2/3 majority for the Bill to go through.

Another loss for the Edgar Lungu led team to count on ahead of the much anticipated harmonised elections in 2021.

The bill was initiated by Justice minister Given Lubinda.
