LUSAKA – Bowman Lusambo has said trusting the new government led by President Hakainde Hichilema is like trusting a witch.
In an interview looking back on the year, Lusambo accused that trusting the UPND government is like trusting a thief who tells you “don’t lock the door at night, you are safe”.
Lusambo has since warned Zambians to prepare for more challenges next year.
“We would like to warn our people that they must be ready to face many more difficult challenges as the current government is incapable of addressing the challenges facing the people of Zambia.
“They came to send our people into abject poverty. 2021 has therefore been a very difficult year for all of us as Zambians,” he said.
“We cannot trust this government. Trusting this government is like trusting a witch or trusting a thief who will tell you “don’t close the door, the place is safe” without knowing that at night it is the same person as you fly. So, if we trust this government, we risk ourselves.
“We have lives and we will not listen to them; and we will wait until 2026.
“But if President Hakainde Hichilema had integrity and loved the people of Zambia, he would have said, ‘I am stepping down as president because I lied to the people of Zambia’.
Lusambo said the biggest mistake Zambians made this year was leaving the country’s government to what he called the learners.
He also criticized the government’s new relationship with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“And the biggest mistake we have made as Zambians is leaving the government of this country to the learners, which is very dangerous for all of us. And that is how I can describe 2021. It is a year marked by many challenges.
“The best way for Zambians to approach 2022 is to accept that they made a mistake by putting government in the hands of learners and that these learners will do nothing to change the status quo,” Lusambo said.
“It will just be from worse to worse.
“No government can stand up and say that we will develop the country based on the IMF. You can’t get anything from the IMF.
“The way we suffered when the IMF came to Zambia will triple this time.
“This is not the first time we have the IMF. He came and left a lot of misery for the people of Zambia.
“And it happened, and we want to tell our people that the mistake has already been made and that we leave everything in the hands of God.”
