HARARE – Zimbabwe’s retired former Commissioner General of Prisons and Corrections, Major General Paradzai Zimondi, has been pronounced dead.
Zimondi died of the devastating Covid-19 virus, which is spreading rapidly in the country.
News of his death comes just hours after news broke that Transportation Secretary Joel Biggie Matiza, who also succumbed to COVID-19, has passed away.
Zimondi retired from the prison’s top job in November 2020 after 22 years of service which began in 1998 at the age of 51.
He took part in the second Chimurenga liberation struggle and received military training in 1974 at the Mgagao training camp in Tanzania.
