HARARE – CCC Highfields ward 26 aspiring councillor Maxwell Dutuma who was arrested on 8 March has been released by the Mbare Magistrates Court.
According to Zimbabwe Human Rights Forum, Dutuma was set free after prosecutors said his docket was not ready for prosecution.
He was arrested after he attempted to file a report with the police for assault perpetuated at him by ZANU PF youths.
The aspiring Citizens Coalition for Change councillor sustained injuries and is currently seeking medical attention. He also lost US$520 during the assault.
He was represented by Darlington Marange of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.
