HARARE – Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has launched a new strategy code named ‘Operation Mango’ meant to counter ZANU PF terror on perceived opposition around the country.
At a press conference in Harare on Friday afternoon, Chamisa who was speaking on recent violence on his party in Midlands and Mashonaland East said his supporters will have to step back and protect themselves from violent attacks by ZANU PF thugs.
“I have been telling people that if they want to kill you for T-shirts, don’t worry about them. Let’s go Operation Mango — yellow outside, green inside. Why? To preserve yourselves. Be Zanu in their slogan, be Zanu PF wherever you are going, but show and maintain your integrity to support the change,” he said.
The strategy of “Operation Mango — green outside and yellow inside” entails that CCC supporters will have to pretend to be Zanu PF supporters in public while remaining opposition at heart to counter the regime.
Chamisa adopts the new strategy as sentiment between the two main political party rivals ahead of the June general election flares up again next year.
“They have localised violence to make sure that they will stop me. I want to say to Zanu PF, I will go anywhere, and everywhere, you will not stop me,” Chamisa said.
The charismatic opposition leader said his party will approach the coming elections without structures and will defeat the ruling party hands down.
He said the CCC main thrust is pushing for reforms to ensure that the 2023 elections are free, fair and credible.
