COSAFA 2023: Mighty Warriors off to strong start

Zimbabwe (Mighty Warriors) got their COSAFA Women's Championship campaign off to a positive start after beating Lesotho 1-0 thanks to a late Priviledge Mupeti goal on Friday in South Africa.

PRETORIA – Zimbabwe got their COSAFA Women’s Championship campaign off to a positive start after beating Lesotho 1-0 thanks to a late Priviledge Mupeti goal on Friday in South Africa.

The famed Mighty Warriors coached by returning Shadreck Mlauzi struggled for fluidity throughout the match but somehow found the crucial goal to win the match courtesy of Mupeti.

Interestingly, Mupeti was the last player to score for Zimbabwe before the FIFA suspension.

To add to the exciting news, Christabel Katona was accorded the Player of the Match award for her stellar performance in defence which kept Zimbabwe in the game.

Zimbabwe donned a new look Puma kit to mark their return to the international stage. The kit is receiving positive reviews online.
