Newly appointed Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Benjani Mwaruwari says that he has organized a friendly match with his former club AJ Auxerre during the European pre-season to give his players exposure.
Speaking after his appointment, Mwaruwari said he has cordial relations with all the European clubs that he played and will use the connections to link Ngezi Platinum Stars players with foreign clubs.
“For example, in Auxerre I was recently there and I spoke to them that we would like to come and play a pre-season friendly match and they accepted. So already we have a chance to go and play friendly matches against Auxerre,” Mwaruwari was quoted by the Newsday.
“If I see a good player here it would be easy for that player to go and get trials abroad. That is one of the advantages of me being here. It will be easy for me to facilitate friendly matches for Ngezi to go and play in Europe with teams that I played for.”
Mwaruwari who was recently invited by his former club Manchester City for the Manchester derby against Manchester United said he was looking at having the tour of AJ Auxerre during the pre season in France.
The former Warriors captain also has good relations with Portsmouth where he did attachment after attaining his UEFA A coaching badge.
Mwaruwari will be assisted at Ngezi Platinum Stars by experienced former Warriors assistant and Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu, Takesure Chiragwi with Tinashe Nengomasha coming in as the team manager.
