Double Blow for Mapeza as Warriors Draw Against Sudan

YAOUNDÉ - Zimbabwe played a goalless draw against Sudan in an AFCON 2021 preparatory match played Sunday afternoon in Cameroon.

YAOUNDÉ – The Warriors played a goalless draw against Sudan in a friendly match Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors created a lot of chances but failed to convert them with Prince Dube, Takudzwa Chimwemwe and Onisimor Bhasera coming close.

Coach Norman Mapeza made some changes with Thabani Kamusoko coming in for Kundai Benyu, Onisimor Bhasera for Kuda Mahachi and Talbert Shumba replacing Petros Mhari.

Kuda Mahachi and Petros Mhari were pulled out during the Warriors goalless draw against Sudan in a friendly match in Yaounde due to injury.

It has not yet been ascertained how big severe the injuries are.

Mahachi was replaced by Onisimor Bhasera while Mhari was replaced by Talbert Shumba as the Warriors had their first preparatory match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals which begins Sunday.

The Warriors are looking at playing one more friendly match before taking on Senegal in their first match next Monday.

ZIFA are still negotiating with hosts Cameroon for another friendly match tentatively for Tuesday.

Zimbabwe XI vs Sudan:
Petros Mhari (Shumba), Takudzwa Chimwemwe, Bruce Kangwa, Teenage Hadebe, Gerald Takwara, Kelvin Madzongwe, Kundai Benyu (Kamusoko), Never Tigere, Kuda Mahachi (Bhasera) Ishmael Wadi, Prince Dube.

Substitutes:
Talbert Shumba, Martin Mapisa, Godknows Murwira, Onisimor Bhasera, Thabani Kamusoko, Alec Mudimu, Peter Muduhwa.
