LONDON – In a prestigious two-day Global Reputation Forum held in Westminster, London, Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube emerged as the Best Finance Minister, securing a spot among the 100 Most Reputable People and clinching the title of African Finance Minister of The Year.
The accolades recognize Minister Ncube’s remarkable efforts in steering Zimbabwe’s economy amidst the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic according to a report by Zimbabwe state media.
Chairman of Reputation Poll International, Lord Jorn D Waverly, commended Minister Ncube’s adept financial management during a keynote address.
“In today’s rapidly evolving financial landscape, the convergence of technology and banking has given rise to a new era of financial management challenges, and the Zimbabwean Minister, with a shoestring budget, managed to fight the COVID-19 pandemic with the government and country recording minimal COVID-19 related human deaths.”
Minister Ncube, in his keynote address at the event, highlighted Zimbabwe’s resilience in economic growth and infrastructure development under the Second Republic, despite facing the burden of illegal sanctions.
He also referenced the recently presented budget proposal aimed at further improving the country’s economic landscape.

Zimbabwean Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Christian Katsande, emphasized the Second Republic’s success in fostering economic growth under challenging conditions.
He urged Zimbabweans residing in the UK to leverage the opportunities created by the government for investments back home.
Ambassador Katsande encouraged investors to capitalize on the Second Republic’s re-engagement initiatives.
In another highlight of the event, Gweru businesswoman Dr. Smelly Dube was recognized with a Corporate Leadership Award.
The ceremony, attended by global business leaders, celebrated Dr. Dube’s outstanding contributions in the business sphere.
The awards ceremony not only acknowledged individual achievements but also served as a platform for fostering economic partnerships and encouraging investment in Zimbabwe.
