Harare mayor Jacob Mafume who was dubiously recalled by a bogus PDP party this week has won the case against his recall.
The High Court has granted an interdict to minister of Local government July Moyo to stop the recall of Mayor Jacob Mafume.
The court also ordered the minister to reinstate Bulawayo ward 4 councillor Arnold Batirayi and Mutare Ward 12 councillor Simon Chabuka.
Benjamin Rukanda who had purported to recall the councillors did not even attend the court hearing nor was he represented.
The minister of Local Government and the Harare City Council both consented to the order.
The victory brings a sign of relief to the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa, which has been facing an onslaught from both the Zanu PF government and also its rival MDC-T, a faction led by Thokozani Khupe.
