MUNICH – England’s star striker and captain, Harry Kane, has completed a blockbuster move to German champions Bayern Munich, signing a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The much-anticipated transfer comes after Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur reached an agreement on a transfer fee reported to be a Bundesliga record of 100 million euros ($110 million, £86 million).

Kane, who had only one year remaining on his contract with Tottenham, expressed his excitement about joining Bayern Munich, one of the world’s premier football clubs and he will wear jersey number 9.

In a statement released by the club, Kane stated, “I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now.”

“Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career. This club is defined by its winning mentality, it feels very good to be here.”

Bayern Munich, known for its strong track record and success in both domestic and international competitions, had been searching for a reliable striker after facing challenges in replacing Robert Lewandowski in the previous season.

Harry Kane’s prolific career at Tottenham Hotspur saw him score an impressive 280 goals in 435 games, solidifying his reputation as a top-class forward.

Additionally, he holds the title of England’s all-time leading goalscorer with an impressive tally of 58 international goals.

Despite his remarkable individual achievements, Kane has yet to secure a major club or international trophy.

Reflecting on his departure from Tottenham, Kane took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his gratitude: “Hard to put into words how to say goodbye to a club and fans who have done so much for me in my career. You will always be in my heart. Thank you Tottenham, thank you Tottenham fans.”

Kane’s presence at the 2018 World Cup marked a significant milestone, as he emerged as the top scorer of the tournament, propelling England to the semi-finals.

His move to Bayern Munich is anticipated to inject new energy into the German club’s lineup, while his skill and experience will undoubtedly be crucial in their pursuit of domestic and international success.
