Job Sikhala’s wife arrested

Ellen Sikhala, the wife of incarcerated Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) lawmaker Job Sikhala was arrested Tuesday on her way to visit the husband at Chikurubi prison.

HARARE – Ellen Sikhala, the wife of incarcerated Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) lawmaker Job Sikhala was arrested Tuesday on her way to visit the husband at Chikurubi prison.

Posting on Twitter, family spokesperson Freddy Masarirevu confirmed the news and revealed she will appear in Court on Thursday.

“Mai Sikhala has been arrested on her way to Chikurubhi to see her husband Job Sikhala. A docket has been opened [and] she has been ‘summoned’ to appear at Court, Rotten Row on Thursday. Her vehicle was impounded.

“Although sketchy, it appears to be an alleged traffic offence. She called me and I’m on my way to Harare Central Police to try and assist her,” Masarirevu said.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere later gave an update on the case saying Sikhala’s wife was released but summoned to court on Thursday.

“I have just communicated with Mai Sikhala who confirmed the arrest, advises that she was released but her vehicle was impounded. She is currently at Chikurubi Prison visiting Job Sikhala,” said Mahere.
