MUNICH – Bayern Munich’s star striker, Harry Kane, expressed optimism following Tuesday’s 3-0 victory over Lazio in the Champions League, hoping that the win would serve as a “turning point” in the club’s season.
The triumph secured Bayern‘s progress to the last eight of the Champions League, a significant achievement considering their recent struggles.
The team had won just one of their last five games, including a 1-0 defeat in the first leg against Lazio in Rome.
Additionally, Bayern’s poor form had led to a considerable gap of 10 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
Kane, who has been prolific in front of goal despite Bayern’s difficulties, scored a brace in the crucial victory, taking his tally to an impressive 33 goals in 32 games across all competitions since joining the club in the summer.
In his post-match comments to reporters, Kane expressed his hope that the win would mark a positive change for Bayern going forward.
“If we perform like that in most games, we’re going to come out with a victory. It was a pleasing day,” said the England international.

Reflecting on the team’s performance and his personal achievements, Kane added, “It’s been a good season so far in terms of the goals, but as a team, we know we can do better.”
“I’m trying to help that situation, the team are trying to help that situation, and I hope we can use this as a turning point to push on in the Bundesliga and see who we can get in the next round of the Champions League.”
Meanwhile, Bayern’s outgoing coach, Thomas Tuchel, revealed that he had injured himself during his pre-match motivational speech.
Despite his injury, Tuchel emphasized the team’s aspirations for success in the Champions League, stating, “We’ve got very big goals, and the minimum goal for all of us is the quarter-final.”
Veteran Bayern player Thomas Mueller echoed Kane’s sentiments, describing the win over Lazio as “a very important step” for the club.
Mueller emphasized the team’s unity and determination to overcome their footballing challenges, stating, “We know how important it was to progress today.”
As Bayern looks ahead to the next phase of the Champions League and aims to close the gap in the Bundesliga, the victory over Lazio provides a glimmer of hope for the club’s resurgence and pursuit of silverware this season.
