Klusener appointed Zimbabwe batting coach

Former South Africa allrounder Lance Klusener has rejoined the Zimbabwe national cricket team as batting coach as Zimbabwe Cricket makes some new appointments.

HARARE – Former South Africa allrounder Lance Klusener has rejoined the Zimbabwe national cricket team as batting coach as Zimbabwe Cricket makes some new appointments.

Klusener who previously served as Zimbabwe batting coach between 2016 and 2018 takes over from Stuart Matsikinyeri who has been moved to assistant coach. Lalchand Rajput has been retained as head coach.

In 2019, Klusener took over as Afghanistan’s head coach before he and the Afghanistan Cricket Board mutually agreed to part ways in November 2021.

Klusener’s most recent assignment was at Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Zimbabwe Cricket is in the process of finalising the appointment of a bowling coach and a fitness trainer for the men’s side.

Craig Ervine has been confirmed as Zimbabwe’s ODI captain while Sean Williams has been retained as Test captain.

Regis Chakabva will be the vice captain across all formats.

Former Zimbabwe bowler Gary Brent comes in as the new head coach for the Zimbabwe women’s national team replacing Adam Chifo.

The board also confirmed that Mary-Anne Musonda and Josephine Nkomo would continue as captain and vice-captain of the Zimbabwe women’s team.
