Golden Valley coach Leo Kurauzvione hopes that his team will continue with their purple patch when they take on Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 in a Ruyamuro Northern Region Soccer League match at Baobab stadium Friday afternoon.
Golden Valley have hit a rich vein of form in recent matches moving out of the bottom four to 10th position and Kurauzvione believes that a win away to Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 will be a befitting token of appreciation to the fans for their unwavering support during the time the team was struggling.
“The Golden Valley community is the pillar of the team, when were struggling they continued cheering us, giving us the encouragement. So for us, the good run we are having now is because of their support, they are amazing,” Kurauzvione said.
“We are going into this match with a winning mentality because we want to win it for our fans. It’s now their time to celebrate.
“Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 is a good side with a good coach Klifton Kadurira and we know that it’s not going to be easy but we have braced ourselves for a tough challenge.”
A win will put Golden Valley on 16 points two behind Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 who occupy the sixth position tied on 18 points along with Chegutu Pirates, Karoi United and Trojan Stars but on top due to superior goal difference.
Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 will also be hoping for a win to push up the ladder as they are three points behind fifth placed Commando Bullets.
Action continues on Saturday with the leading three Herentals U20, Simba Bhora and Golden Eagles facing tricky assignments.
Log leaders Herentals U20 buoyed by a convincing 4-0 win against Black Mambas are away to Trojan Stars who have also been doing well of late.
Former Dynamos striker Quality Kangadzi seems to have found his scoring touch and can be the man to harm the the log leaders who have a three point gap at the top.
Simba Bhora are at home against a tricky Harare City Cubs who troubled Golden Eagles in a 2-2 draw last weekend.
Harare City Cubs showed they can be stubborn against the leading pack having also been the first team to score a goal against Herentals U20 and stop their winning streak.
Having collected points against two of the leading three, Harare City Cubs will be hoping for another good show against another title aspirant and complete a hat trick of frustrations.
Golden Eagles still smarting from the frustrating draw against Harare City Cubs face another potential party spoiler Commando Bullets at Ellis Robbins stadium.
The army side have been on a steady rise and will be hoping for a win to close in on fourth placed Black Mambas with just two points separating them.
Chegutu Pirates clash against CUMA Academy at Pfupajena stadium while Come Again take on log anchors Cam & Motor hoping to stop the free fall that has seen them drop into bottom three.
