HARARE – Warriors coach Norman Mapeza has released the provisional squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Bafana Bafana and Ethiopia.
Mapeza has dropped goalkeepers Talbert Shumba and Washington Arubi opting for locals with Dynamos goalkeeper Taimon Mvula getting his first national team call up.
Leicester City young midfielder Tawanda Maswanhise has been drafted into the squad and is expected to make his debut to the national team.
There is no place for FC Platinum’s Rahman Kutsanzira who found the going tough against Ghana.
Jonah Fabisch returns after being omitted for the Ghana matches.
Macauley Bonne has also been included. The Ipswitch Town loanee has snubbed previous national team call-ups and it remains to be seen if he will will make the trip to South Africa and Harare.
Zimbabwe play South Africa on Thursday 11 November 2021 before hosting Ethiopia three days later to round up a disastrous Group G World Cup qualifier which has left them win-less in the group.
South Africa tops the group while Ghana are second followed by Ethiopia.
