Warriors coach Norman Mapeza has hinted that inform Ipswich Town striker Macauley Bonne could still be called up in future if he changes his attitude and show willingness to play for Zimbabwe.

Bonne who has scored eight goals in nine games for Ipswich Town so far, has divided opinion in Zimbabwe over his conduct, snubbing numerous national team call ups since 2019.

Previous coach Zdravko Logarusic  claimed that Bonne didn’t respond to his calls and when he reached out to him via WhatsApp, he just blue ticked him.

Mapeza said he didn’t consider Bonne for the clash against Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers because he was told the striker was constantly snubbing call ups.

“We will consider him in future, but I still need to talk to him first. I need to hear his side of the story first and try to understand his reasons.”

Bonne only featured for the Warriors during an unofficial tournament in Morocco under Kalisto Pasuwa in 2014 together another UK bred star David Moyo who has since made his debut for the Warriors against Algeria in 2020.

The Ipswich Town striker was presented with the Zimbabwean passport in 2019 with the hope that he would honour call up for the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt but he didn’t turn up despite a special arrangement for him to join the Warriors in Egypt.
