Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal AM coach John Maduka has been officially appointed as the head coach of Maritzburg United on a 3-year contract, until June 2025.
The 51-year-old will officially start at the Team of Choice for the pre-season ahead of the start of the 2022/2023 DSTV Premiership Season.
Speaking during the team’s press briefing, the former Flames International said he feels with his ambition, together with his work ethics, he can work to achieve the desired results for the club.
“It is a huge honour for me to represent and coach a club with the tradition and support base of Maritzburg United,” Maduka said.
He added that he was very excited to get started after discussions with the Maritzburg United chairman and the Board, he felt their passion, ambition and desire to be successful.
“This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players,” he explained.
Maduka led Phunya Selesele (Bloemfontein Celtic) to the final of the 2020/21 MTN 8 Cup before being at the helm at Royal AM during the recently concluded 2021/2022 DSTV Premiership season where he guided the club to the semifinal of the Nedbank Cup and third position in the league.
He will be assisted by Ditheko Mototo as his 1st Assistant.
