HARARE – Marry Mubaiwa, the estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was on Monday brought to court on a hospital bed after a warrant of arrest was issued for failing to turn up in court.
Marry is being accused of assaulting her child minder.
Mubaiwa was wheeled into court on a trolley and her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa had to apply for the cancellation of a warrant of arrest issued against her for failing to appear before court and seek postponement of her trial.
The court agreed to postpone the case to 28th of January 2021 after cancelling the warrants of arrest.
The court said there are extra-territorial investigations that need to be done in South Africa but have been stalled due to Covid-19 regulations restricting travels.
Mary Mubaiwa will be given time to recover as she cannot fully participate in a trial due to her medical condition says the court, even though the state is not ready.
