Mike Chimombe arrested for defrauding Harare man US$16,900

Affirmative Action Group (AAG) former boss Mike Chimombe was arrested on Monday and charged with defrauding one Brian Marungamise of $16,900 in a botched deal for a housing estate.

HARARE – Affirmative Action Group (AAG) former boss Mike Chimombe was arrested on Monday and charged with defrauding one Brian Marungamise of $16,900 in a botched deal for a housing estate.

Chimombe, 41, was nabbed by detectives at his home in Borrowdale Brooke in Harare after initially resisting arrest by uniformed officers just after 8am according to reports.

Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest Monday in a statement posted on their Twitter timeline.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Mike Chimombe (41) for fraudulent land deals which occurred between August 2020 and December 2021 in Harare where the complainant was duped US$16 900.”

Police are also holding his alleged accomplices Steven Chimombe (33) and Heymish Katsande (33), who are charged with multiple counts of fraud.

Marungamise reportedly paid $16,900 for the Tynwald stand before finding out he had been duped.
