HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on young people to speak out against businesses that “sabotage the economy” and said the current economic crisis was destined to bring him down.
Speaking at the Zanu PF Youth League conference in Harare on Thursday, Mnangagwa said business people were colluding with foreign powers to foment instability through unwarranted price hikes.
“We are aware that there are people who are working with detractors to bring about regime change through the manipulation of our exchange rate and unjustified price hikes.
“My government is seized with this matter and perpetrators will soon be brought to book. I exhort the youth of our country to be vigilant and help expose all the deviant malcontents and counter-revolutionaries,” said Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa faces a tough week ahead after activists called for a May 9 shutdown over the worsening economic situation in the country.
