HARARE – MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora has suspended its deputy president Thokozani Khupe.
The suspension was announced by the party spokesperson Witness Dube in a letter titled “Statement on Suspension of Dr Thokazani Khupe” released on Thursday.
“The MDC-T wishes to advise that First Vice President Dr Thoko[zani] Khupe has been suspended.
“A letter dated 12 January 2022 was personally delivered to Dr Khupe and her legal team.
“The suspension was with immediate effect, pending investigations into the various allegations levelled against her,” the letter said.

“Investigations are being conducted by a team led by the party’s Arbiter General.
“The suspension is in line with the party constitution and is as a result of certain issues that arose.
“Once the said issues are investigated and fully resolved, the party will communicate such,” said Witness Dube.
Khupe, a former Deputy Prime Minister during the Zimbabwe inclusive government between 2009 to 2013 has been at loggerheads with Mwonzora.
She is scheduled to hold a press conference on Friday at Mzilikazi Hall in Bulawayo.
