LONDON – Liverpool continued their upturn in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over West Ham on Wednesday thanks to a solitary strike from Uruguay international Darwin Nunez.
Nunez had a difficult start at Liverpool but the Uruguayan was the winner as Jurgen Klopp‘s men moved up to seventh place.
The lanky forward connected a cross from Kostas Tsimikas into the top corner for the only goal of the game (22nd).
“He was outstanding,” Klopp said. “He’s a really big talent and we’re really excited about him.”
However, the Reds owed all three points to Alisson Becker, who saved Jarrod Bowen’s penalty in added time in the first half.
Alisson was again needed to save Tomas Soucek from close range late as Liverpool held on.
