LUTON – Aston Villa star Marvelous Nakamba was able to strike a loan agreement with English Championship team Luton Town till the end of the current campaign on Tuesday in a transfer deadline move.

Nakamba had been searching for a new team since being asked to leave by new Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.

Nakamba had been linked with a number of teams, including West Brom, another Championship team, but he ultimately chose to sign with Luton.

He still has 18 months left on his Aston Villa deal, and following his loan assignment, he’ll be hoping to move permanently.

The 29-year-old Zimbabwe international last played for the team on the last day of the 2021–22 season when Villa blew a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Manchester City, confirming the Cityzens as champions.

He hasn’t played in a single Premier League game this season.

After leaving Belgian powerhouse Club Brugge in 2019, Nakamba transferred to Aston Villa, where he played under Dean Smith and Steve Gerrard.

He reportedly drew the interest of Crystal Palace, Everton, and Newcastle during the time he helped Villa to avoid relegation in the 2019–20 season.

Nakamba will likely jump at the opportunity to compete for a Premier League spot with Luton, who have been performing well in the English Championship this season.
