Second from bottom Paramount United are looking at preserving their place in the Central Region Soccer League starting with a win at home against ZPC Munyati at ZRP Gokwe stadium on Sunday.
Paramount United are going through a lean spell and club secretary Batan Batan said they are targeting a rebound commencing with the match against ZPC Munyati who seem to have found the mojo under Godfrey Tamirepi.
“We have not had the best results in our last two matches losing both but when you look at the performance the boys really did everything, the results do not do justice to our performances,” Batan said.
“The target now is to finish very strongly and at a respectable position, so all our remaining games we will fight for every point available starting with the ZPC Munyati match. We want to end the season in style and lay a foundation for a solid start next season.”
The highlight of the weekend fixtures however is the clash between title aspirants TelOne who are second in the league and third placed Tongogara at Ascot stadium on Saturday.
With five points behind the log leaders Sheasham, TelOne coach Tendai Chikuni said they are running their own race without looking at what is happening elsewhere.
“We are taking each game as it comes, focusing on one match at a particular time until the end. We will continue pushing,” Chikuni said.
“We are working on the mental aspect of the players so that they are able to deal with pressure. There has been a lot of pressure coming in from different quarters . I’m happy that we have been able to get results away from home and we are looking at continuing collecting results.”
Log leaders Sheasham enjoying a seven point breathing space, will be looking at gaining more ground in the title race with a win away to FC Platinum Stars U19 while Chapungu who saw their title aspirations diminish by each game are also in Zvishavane for a date against Loss Control at Gresham ground.
Fourth placed Vumbachikwe will be hoping to keep their title hopes intact with a win against Bishopstone at Long John stadium.
Dulibadzimu United entertain Kwekwe United at Dulibadzimu stadium while Filabusi United welcome Kwekwe United at Filabusi stadium.
