LONDON – English Premier League club Crystal Palace have parted ways with their manager, Patrick Vieira, after a string of poor results.
The decision came after Palace lost 1-0 to rivals Brighton on Wednesday, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone.
Vieira, a former Arsenal star, had joined the Eagles in 2021 and enjoyed initial success at Selhurst Park.
Last season, despite the squad changes made prior to his arrival, he guided the team to an impressive 12th place finish and a Wembley FA Cup semifinal appearance by playing some exciting football.

However, the team’s recent form has been less than impressive, with 12 games without a win and no goals scored in their last four games.
In a statement on the club’s website, chairman Steve Parish said that the decision to part ways with Vieira was a difficult one, but necessary to give the team the best chance of retaining their Premier League status.
He praised Vieira’s impact since joining the club and thanked him and his team for their service.
Palace’s goalkeeping coach, Dean Kiely, will remain in his position. The team now face a trip to the Emirates on Sunday to take on Arsenal.
