HARARE – Human rights fighter Dr Patson Dzamara who was announced last week to have been diagnosed with cancer of the colon has died.

The sad news was announced by the leader of the MDC Alliance, Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

Chamisa expressed his sadness over the passing of Dr Dzamara, describing it as a terrible loss for the country.

He said, “I am so devastated. Just received bad news from the Dzamaras. The young Dr Patson Dzamara gone too soon. This has been a terrible 2020.”

Dr Dzamara was a prominent human rights fighter who had dedicated his life to fighting for social justice and equality in Zimbabwe. He was a vocal critic of the government and was often targeted for his activism.

In a statement, the Dzamara family expressed their deep sorrow at the loss of their beloved son and brother. They described him as a selfless individual who had dedicated his life to the service of others.

“Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved son and brother, Dr Patson Dzamara. He was a selfless individual who dedicated his life to the service of others. We will miss him dearly,” the family said in a statement.
