HARARE – Former minister of Tourism, Walter Mzembi has suggested that legendary Peter Ndlovu should be the next ZIFA president.
Mzembi now exiled in South Africa posted on X that Ndlovu, a celebrated football hero in the country should cap up his contribution to the nation’s cause by assuming the reigns at ZIFA.
“Peter is football and football is Peter,” wrote Mzembi.
“Every person should be allowed and assisted to reach their point of self actualization. For landing the ZIFA Presidency is a well deserved cap to his football career.”
It remains to be seen whether Ndlovu will accept the call to run for the ZIFA presidency with the elections to chose the new board set for 18 January 2025.
So far Walter Magaya, Richard Wangu Mazodze and Marshall Gore have expressed their interest to run for the ZIFA presidency.
Magaya has been tipped to land the decorated post based on his financial muscle and political influence.
In recent times he has completed the construction of a state of the art stadium, The Heart Stadium in Walterfalls while also bankrolling the local Women Super League.
