HARARE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has begun investigations into the alleged death of 14-year-old Memory Machaya at a church shrine in Marange.
The investigations by the police come after a social media uproar by a number of citizens including socialites such as comedienne Felistas Edwards Murata of the Mai Titi Diaries.
Memory is reported to have died while giving birth at a shrine in Mutare. Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said on Friday that investigations into the case are already in motion.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has taken note of print and social media reports and inquiries on the alleged death of Memory Machaya (14) at a church shrine in Marange recently.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is now conducting investigations into the case. More information will be released soon.”
Medical experts believe the life of Machaya could have been saved had she been referred to a medical facility.
