JOHANNESBURG — Prince Buzabazi has been announced by senior members of the AmaZulu royal family as their preferred choice as heir to the Zulu kingdom.
Prince Buzabazi is the third son of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini and Queen Buhle Mathe of the Kwadlamahlahla Royal House in Nongoma.
The announcement was made by the late King’s brothers at a press conference at Fourways on Thursday.
During the briefing, Prince Mbonisi Zulu condemned the sudden appointment of Prince Simakade – the eldest son of the late King of the AmaZulu nation.
He also criticized King Misuzulu kaZwelithiuni’s kraal ritual on Saturday, adding that it should not have happened.
He said they chose Prince Buzabazi because he was close to the late king and had worked hard to unite the Zulu nation.
“He is the prince who likes family, who is humble and has worked the longest with the king. I can count the number of things he did with the king, some of which were secret. What is important is the love for family,” Mbonisi said.
“We are going to perform a ritual to ask our ancestors if the man we have chosen from among the children is Buzabazi kaZwelithini. So we are waiting for this signal from the ancestors,” he said.
