Prosper Padera shines ray of hope for Warriors

Finland based teenage midfield star Prosper Padera is over the moon after putting up a man of the match performance in Zimbabwe's 0-0 draw with Mauritius in the Cosafa Cup on Wednesday.

PRETORIA – Finland based teenage midfield star Prosper Padera is over the moon after putting up a man of the match performance in Zimbabwe’s 0-0 draw with Mauritius in the COSAFA Cup on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old Mutare-born footballer and product of Majesa Academy plays for Finnish topflight side, SJK Seinajoki FC after signing a four-year deal in December last year.

On Wednesday, Padera turned out for the Zimbabwe national team and left everyone satisfied that he is a gem for the present and future.

He bossed the midfield at every turn and justified his inclusion in the Warriors squad largely composed of under 23 players.

With a bit of luck, Padera could have registered his name on the scoresheet after getting into the scoring position several times.

The exciting Young Warrior acknowledged that he has to work on his finishing and hopes to help the national team in the coming games.

Zimbabwe takes on hosts South Africa in their second match of the tournament in Bloemfontein on Saturday 7th June 2025.

Meanwhile, the senior group of the Warriors will be in action on Friday night in a friendly match against Burkina Faso at the Stade El Bachir stadium in Morocco.

All eyes will be on the likes of Elvis Chipezeze, Jonah Fabisch and debutant Sean Fusire who are seeking to impress coach Michael Nees.
